13 Weeks

Still not much of a change in this picture (it seems kind of silly to keep posting pictures of the same thing, but I've already started, so I'll continue dutifully). I think you'll be able to see change soon though.

13 Weeks

I had another doctor appointment this past Monday, and everything went great! The doctor wasn't planning on doing an ultrasound, but she had trouble finding the baby's heartbeat with just the doppler, so she ended up doing an ultrasound anyway. The heartbeat was much slower this time (145 down from 180), and she said everything looked perfect. I asked the doctor if there was any truth to links between the baby's heart rate and the sex and she said not really (but then she said she would bet our baby is a boy because it was difficult for her to locate a heartbeat at first!). I honestly have no idea what the sex is, so I guess we'll all just have to wait a few more weeks to find out for sure!

Belly Pictures!

So, several of my friends have posted pictures on their blogs of their growing pregnant bellies, and we've decided to follow suit. Each Wednesday marks a new week in the pregnancy for us, so that's when we take our weekly picture, and I'll do my best to post by Thursday. Feel free to bug me if I forget, and all comments are welcome! (Chet just proofread this post and said, "You're not showing yet, honey.")

Anniversary

Yesterday was our third anniversary, and Chet got us tickets to Alhambra Dinner Theater to see "Annie". It was really cute (especially all of the little kids in it), and the dinner and dessert were really good too!

Panama City, FL

Last weekend, Chet and I were invited by one of Chet's coworkers to join his family in Panama City, FL to scuba dive. Chet and I left Jacksonville after work on Friday, drove the four hours to Panama City, and arrived at the house that we all rented on Tyndall Air Force Base around 9:30 p.m. (Panama City time). We woke up early the next morning, ate breakfast, and drove to St. Andrews State Park where we dove all weekend. (I use the term "we" loosely. The divers were Chet; Chet's coworker, Dave; Dave's daughter, Ashey Nicole - ha!; Chet's CO at work, Captain Vaughn.) Dave's wife and I were content to sit on the beach. Unfortuntely, Saturday provided pretty nasty weather, so we called it an early day and went back to the house to watch a movie. But Sunday was perfect! It was a really nice weekend away from Jacksonville, and we look forward to more scuba diving trips with Dave and his family!

Comments

I know many of you have had problems leaving comments on our blog. I changed the security settings, so now you shouldn't have any trouble (let me know if you do, though). We love comments!

We moved (sort of)!

The reason I haven't posted anything in three weeks is because Chet and I have been extremely busy moving. Our realtor/property manager found renters for our condo, which thrilled us! The only catch was, the family wanted to rent a furnished home...in two weeks..., so Chet and I thought about whether or not we could/wanted to do that, and decided to go for it! Mom and Dad Wyckoff were gracious enough to drive up to Jacksonville July 4th weekend to help us move the big things, and Chet and I continued to move each day after work until everything was finished (the renters moved in July 15th). Because we rented the condo furnished, we had to replace some of the furniture that we moved with us (see pictures below). It was a big job, finding replacement furniture and rearranging the house with the items that we left for the renters, but it was also sort of fun!

Now that we have our condo rented, we will begin house hunting. Since the renters moved in so fast, we're in a small apartment (with most of our big belongings in storage) for a few months while we look for a house. We were adamant about not buying a house until we knew we could rent out the condo; if we couldn't find renters, our plan was to stay in the condo for the remainder of our time in Jacksonville. We'll keep you updated!

We have big news!

Okay, if you haven't heard (and if you couldn't tell by the countdown at the top of the blog)...we're pregnant! We found out via home pregnancy test at the end of May, the weekend we traveled to Texas for Grant's graduation. We wanted to wait to tell our immediate family until we received the blood test results (the test was positive, of course!). After we told our parents and brothers and sister, we decided to wait to tell the rest of the world until I was at least eight weeks along and we had our first ultrasound. Well, I'm nine weeks along and we had our first ultrasound on Monday, and all is well! Here are a couple of pictures of our little shrimp cocktail...

The ultrasound was a lot of fun, as we were able to hear the strong heartbeat (180 beats per minute) and even see it move a little (which is great for only being 8-and-a-half weeks old)! Also, before the ultrasound I thought it was a girl; now, after seeing it, I think it's a boy (for no reason in particular). Stay tuned...
