Friday morning Ford, Ruthie, and I vacated our hotel room early and met Chet, Sydney, and Lorelei at our Gulfport house one last time to get the rest of our things packed and loaded into the cars.
Chet also had to swing by work for his final check out in the midst of this.
Our appointment with the housing office was at 10 a.m., and we were NOT ready. However, we probably ended up emptying the house faster with the housing office lady there waiting on us than we otherwise would have.
I wanted to take a picture of all of us in front of the house…but it just didn’t happen. I’ll have to rely on my memory.
Before getting in the highway we had to stop at a truck stop to weigh our full vehicles. The Navy hires a company to move us, but we are also able to fill out a travel claim for our vehicles and the belongings inside of them to help offset moving costs. But let me tell you (now that we’ve done this seven times), making time to weigh both vehicles twice (empty and full) never feels convenient! (But thank you, Navy, for not making us move out of pocket.)
Next, the drive…
