Serve 5 Years in the Navy = Check!

Yesterday was my last day in the Navy! It is so nice to be finished, but I don't think the reality of it has fully sunk in. The next few weeks are going to be very busy for us, and I don't think I will feel like I'm a true stay-at-home mom until we are settled in Mississippi. Sydney will continue to go to daycare this month so that I can have the uninterrupted chance to purge things we don't need and to pack things we'd rather the movers don't touch.

last day in the Navy (Syd was fascinated with a paper towel tube)

At work yesterday there was a little ceremony where I was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for the work I did the past two years (I received a different medal when I left the ship), and a picture with people's signatures and messages on the matting. (In the photo I am holding said picture and standing with the Commodore.) Some of my coworkers took me out to lunch afterward.

Today I got a haircut. Since I have been wearing my hair in a bun for the past five years, I figured I had better start fixing it on a (mostly) daily basis, and to do that I should acquire an easier-to-manage hairstyle. (When I see pictures of myself I'm still shocked at how dark my hair is!)

awe Thanks for the 5 years you served! You are amazing!! LOVE The hair cut - and is this your natural color? WOW it is getting dark!! You were always so blond growing up! I feel like mine gets darker with each pregnancy! Good luck keeping up with that "fixing your hair regularly" LOL
