Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to my mom, Chet's mom, Chet's two lovely grandmothers, and my two sisters-in-law -- and also to any other mothers who may read this!  I hope your day is special for you, and that you feel appreciated all day long (and every day).

(To the mothers in my life: you will probably receive your card on Monday -- I put too much faith in the United States Postal Service.)

We had a simple, yet lovely Mother's Day (unlike last year, which was lovely, but not so simple).  We went to the 11 a.m. church service, came home (and stayed home all afternoon), got some takeout, and went to bed.  The kids gave me homemade cards, and Chet gave me exactly what I wanted, which was time to get things done around the house without interruption.  (Saturday night we were folding clothes after the kids went to bed, and I said, "Do you know what I want for Mother's Day?"  He looked like a deer caught in headlights, because we had discussed that I didn't want anything.  I said, "I want total freedom to get things done around this house, without having to do any daily type chores, or having to wrangle children."  Relief flooded his face.  Then relief turned to suspicion and he asked, "Is this a test?")

So I got things done, and it was lovely.

What did you do for Mother's Day?
